When we looked at playing cards in today's social context, we found them to conform to binary gender identities. Pedalling a notion that’s as old as time. We tasked ourselves to reimagine how the cards could break through these shackles.

Approach

Playing with all things we adore; geometry, superimposition and symmetry, we at Studio 318 have crafted these precious playing cards with Gender Fluidity as the heart of the theme. Shuffle your way in and out of this amorphous dream.

Non-conforming to to the norm of ‘man’ and ‘woman’, we’ve rendered the King and Queen with characteristics often associated with the opposite sex. The Queen having facial hair and the King being emotionally vulnerable.

Can’t be confined nor be defined, Jack is not something you can fit into a box. They’re what they choose to be. And the Joker, well, you’ll find them in the reflection, smiling back at you, sheepishly.
